Ye Xiaowen

Director of the State administration for Religious Affairs.

Director Ye Xiaowen was born in 1950 in Ning Xiang, Hunan Province.
He worked as assistant researcher in Philosophy Institute of Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences Academy in 1983, and then as the deputy Dean of the institute in 1984; meanwhile, he was elected as Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Guizhou Sociology Society. In 1985, he became Secretary of the Communist Youth League Guizhou Provincial Committee. In 1990, he served as deputy director of the United Front Department under the CYL Central Committee, and deputy Secretary General of All China Youth Federation. In 1991, he became Director of Bureau of Ethnical and Religions Affairs under the United Front Department of the CPC Central Committee. Since 1995, he has been working as Director of the Religious Affairs Bureau under the State Council (the later State Administration for Religious Affairs).

Director Ye is a member of Sociology Group of the All China Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning and Leadership Group, senior consultant of the China Society of Religions Studies, director of the China Sociology Society, director of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, director of the China Development Institute, and also visiting professor of the Central Institute of Socialism and the Chinese People's Public Security University.

Director Ye is an alternate member of the 16th Central Committee of the CPC and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.

Appointed by the State Council as special commissioner, he once attended the ceremonies of "Casting Lots out of Gold Urn" and "Crowning on Bed" held for the 11th Panchen Lama in Tibet.

One of his main works is the Social Issues In Various Perspectives.

Through his article Progress of Sociology Das Negative Des Negation and Its Internal Contradiction, he was granted the Middle-Aged and Youth Excellent Articles Award of China Social Sciences in 1984.
