In early December, all 343 villagers of Dongjiagou village in She County of Hebei Province have moved into new settlement established by local government.
Dongjiagou village locates in Mt. Taihang area, which used to be political and military base in revolutionary era. Local residents have been suffering from the poor natural environment and lack of resources.
To fight poverty, in the past two years, She county government invested over 6 million yuan to set up two new migrating villages, settled 921 people from 32 villages and helped them develop modern farming. Figures show that average per capita income of two villages migrated last year increased from less than 800 yuan to 3000 yuan.
