Deepening comprehensive reform in rural areas is an important part of building a new socialist countryside, said Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu in a recent tour to eastern China's Anhui Province.

After the abolition of agricultural taxes across the country, it is very important to push forward rural reforms of taxes and fee collection systems, Hui said.

He urged local authorities to provide better agricultural production guidance and technological services in the season of spring plowing in order to help farmers increase incomes and fulfill a yearly harvest.

Local governments should continue to push forward the reform of township government organs, the reform of rural compulsory education and the reform of county finance systems, he said.
