On April 9, CAS President Lu Yongxiang, who is also vice chairman of the standing committee of China's top legislature NPC, held talks with visiting Executive Director of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) Mohamed HA Hassan in Beijing.

The two sides had discussions on a wide range of issues from the future planning of TWAS to the partnership between CAS and TWAS. Lu, who is also vice president of TWAS, suggested that joint international symposia on issues of world concern be held so as to promote the development of the developing counties.

Hassan came to China at the invitation of the CAS President to attend a special invited seminar on membership affairs of national academies, which will open on April 10.
