Chongqing: forest fire spreads amid drought

A local resident points to the smokes caused by forest fire in Yubei District, about 40 kilometers northeast of downtown Chongqing municipality in southwest China, Aug. 31, 2006. The fire began at around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Yubei District, and 4,000 people had been mobilized to fight the fire that was spreading rapidly through the drought-parched timberlands.  [Xinhua Photo]
