The agricultural research plan of the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” aimed at the major technical requirements in the development of the farming sector has scoreed a batch of common core technologies that constrain China’s agricultural growth.

The success is considered a great stimutus to upgrading agricultural technology.

According to statistics, 1,246 units joined the research program during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period with a research team of 14,383 members. Among them 6,950 hold senior professional titles, accounting for 48.3% of the total; 3,979 hold medium level professional titles, 30.2% of the total; and 2,063 hold junior level professional titles, 14.41% of the total.

By means of industrialized demonstration, a total sum of 100.551 billion yuan was earned in comprehensive economic returns, with a newly added output worth 251.725 billion yuan, a newly added tax 10.38 billion yuan and a total revenue of USD$1.101 billion from exports.
