New bridge over Yangtze River opens to traffic

Thousands of onlookers flock onto the Caiyuanba Bridge over the Yangtze River as the bridge opens to traffic in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, Oct. 29, 2007. It took nearly four years to build the bridge, which cost 2 billion yuan. The bridge is a structural blend of tunnels and flyovers with a unique arch and cable structure. The distance between two tall steel piers is 420m. [newsphoto]
