China's special envoy on Middle East issues Sun Bigan arrived in Cairo on Sunday, the first leg of his week-long visit to the region.

During his two-day stay, Sun will hold talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit, Presidential Adviser Osama el-Baz and Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ahmed Bin Helli on the latest developments in the Middle East.

Sun will also visit Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
