The escalation of the Israeli-Lebanese conflict has put the safety of Chinese expatriates at risk. With the targeting of Israel's third largest city, Haifa, Chinese citizens in Northern Israel also face the danger of rocket attacks every day.

Several thousand Chinese citizens work in Israel. A small proportion of them live and work in Haifa in the north of the country. Most have now been evacuated to safe areas.

Chen Yonglong, Chinese Ambassador to Israel said: "The embassy is paying close attention to the development of the situation and will do all it can to inform Chinese citizens of the security situation in Israeli cities. We hope Chinese citizens in Israel can keep in touch with the embassy and feel free to ask for help."

The ambassador visited 13 Chinese engineers working at an industrial park in Haifa. They've been evacuated to a hotel in Tel Aviv and will fly back to China on Wednesday.
