During the meeting, Xi first conveyed the regards of China's top legislator Wu Bangguo to Hamid.

Xi highly lauded the comprehensive development achieved in bilateral relationship since China established diplomatic relationship with Bangladesh 35 years ago.

He reiterated that China would like to work with Bangladesh to push forward the closer comprehensive partnership of cooperation.

Xi said the legislative exchange is an important part of bilateral relationship. He said China's National People's Congress (NPC) and the Bangladeshi Parliament have established good relations, had many exchange of visits, and kept close coordination and cooperation in regional and international affairs.

Xi expressed hope that the legislatives of both countries should further strengthen communication and promote mutual understanding.

Xi said the exchange of friendship between the two peoples is the foundation of developing relationship between China and Bangladesh.

"We would like to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture and promote people to people relationship," he said.

Xi said China and Bangladesh are all developing countries. "China is working hard to construct a rich, democratic and civilized socialist country," he said.

"Bangladesh is also working hard to build a mid-income country. Both countries should make further exchange of experiences, expand cooperation, confront challenges and seek common development.

Hamid welcomed Xi to visit Bangladesh on behalf of the Parliament and thanked NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo for his regards.

Hamid said the relationship between China and Bangladesh has a long history. "China is Bangladesh's friendly neighbor and tested friend as well as a sincere cooperative partner in the economic development of Bangladesh," he said.

Hamid said all the parties in Parliament of Bangladesh are supporting developing relationship with China.

"We would like to make further contacts with NPC and promote the friendship between China and Bangladesh," he said.
